2011 - Neither rain nor record hail storms could stop our third Organic Crops Field Tour!
It was a great success with over 220 people attending to tour the 10 acres certified organic and 4 acres in organic transition and to learn about a variety of organic growing topics including the use of hightunnels, alternatives to soil fumigants, organic no-till corn production, organic nut production and more! .
Participants also had the chance to learn about organic products and services provided by exhibitors who also contributed to the event.

After surveying the damage from the previous evening's hail storms...

...things got underway with visits to the Exhibit Tent.

A wide variety of Workshops and Programs followed. For example...

Organic No-Till Corn Production
Growing Tomatoes, Strawberries and Leaf Lettuce in High Tunnels
Considerations for Organic Fruit/Nut Production
Alternatives to Soil Fumigants
The Quest for Early Blight Resistance in Heirloom Tomatoes
Managing Weeds in Organic Systems

The morning's programs were followed by a super tasty lunch catered by UT's Culinary Institute and a presentation "Chef’s Secrets about Today’s Meal” by - Chef John Antun, Director, UT Culinary Institute.

The day concluded Equipment Demonstrations and a Walking Tour of the farm.

Overall, it was a successful fun-filled day!
