2012 Organic Crops Field Tour A public event at the East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center – Organic Crops Unit |
2012 - Neither rain nor hail (again) could stop our fourth Organic Crops Field Tour! |
It was a great success with over 195 people attending to tour the 10 acres certified organic and 4 acres in organic transition and to learn about a variety of organic growing topics including the use of hightunnels, composting, seed saving, organic nut production, tomato grafting and more! |
Participants also had the chance to learn about organic products and services provided by exhibitors who also contributed to the event. |
Things got underway with visits to the Exhibit Tent.
A wide variety of Workshops and Programs followed. For example...
High Tunnel Production
|
|
Tomato Grafting for Enhanced Yield and Disease Resistance
|
The morning's programs were followed by a super tasty lunch catered by UT's Culinary Institute and a presentation by Blackberry Farms Master Gardener and Seed Saving Expert, John Coykendall
The day concluded with Equipment Demonstrations and a Walking Tour of the farm.
